The GNU Hurd project downloads are distrubuted through Debian. There is a livecd version available. The Hurd uses a mach microkernel and does not provide a system that is ready for production puposes. The group is still developing and working on alternative kernels to achieve a production level system.

The Free Software Foundation drives the development of GNU/Hurd.
