IBM AIX Page
AIX is a proprietary version of UNIX developed by IBM.
It runs on IBM mainframes, capable of clustering and virtualization and Role Based Access Control.
Graphics support uses CDE by default with the capability of running Gnome or KDE desktop environments.
Like HP-UX, IBM sells hardware resources that can be activated on demand.
You buy a machine that has some of it's hardware locked down by IBM, if you want to activate it you pay them.
